Read the label first
Materials respond differently to care. If a piece is dusty, let it dry and gently remove dirt with a suitable brush. Rubbing wet mud into fabric can make matters worse. Test any method in a hidden area.
When washing is necessary
Stains, odour and dirt in seams may call for a full wash according to the item’s instructions. Dry collar and cuffs completely afterward. Do not put a damp layer back on the dog or store it in a sealed bag.
Match the action to the mark
Try a soft brush for dry dust if the material allows it. Treat a local mark only with a suitable product tested in a hidden area. Do not disguise urine contamination or persistent odour with a fragranced spray.
Remove the garment from the dog before cleaning. Never apply cleaner directly to a sleeve being worn. After care, let it dry fully and follow rinsing requirements.
Inspect hook-and-loop fasteners, seams and the inside of cuffs separately. Small debris can impair a closure while remaining difficult to see from outside.
If a mark persists, do not keep escalating treatment: hot water, vigorous rubbing and improvised solvents can damage fabric. Consult the label or maker. The goal is a clean comfortable garment, not a permanently brand-new appearance at any cost. Record the successful care method so future cleaning is straightforward.
